Jose has been involved in team and individual competitive sports since elementary school in his hometown of Elizabeth, NJ. This was Jose's initial experience with teamwork and motivational leadership. After High School Jose fulfilled his childhood dream of enlisting in the United States Marine Corps at the age of 17. While serving, he specialized in Artillery Combat Communications and was later assigned as a Vehicle Commander in a Convoy Security Team with the 1st Marine Division during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Staff Sergeant (E-6) in 2009. It was through the Marine Corps that Jose learned more about the upmost importance of teamwork, camaraderie and how to achieve success through the empowerment of a team. This teamwork philosophy acquired through team sports and the Marine Corps was then integrated as the core philosophy of NJ HIIT stating "Personal Success Through Group Empowerment."

He is a guest physical fitness instructor at the Morris County Fire Academy and is currently NJ HIIT's Police & Fire Candidate Coach where he trains and helps both prospective police and firefighter recruits achieve a higher score in their entry-level physical fitness exams.
